Junior European Squad Place for Claudia
Bristol Hawks is very proud of gymnast Claudia Fragapane who has been working hard this Spring taking part in a number of trials and squad training sessions used for the selection process for GB’s team to the Junior European Championships. Claudia, who is a member of Great Britains World Class Potential Squad, performed well at the trial held on 30th March, she was 5th overall and more importantly was in the top 5 on three out of the 4 apparatus including third on vault. At this point the number of girls in contention was cut from the original 14 and she secured her a place in the Junior European Squad and the right to fight for a place in the team. Eight girls were selected to take part in further trials. At the last trial Claudia once again performed well and again was in the top 5 on three out of the four apparatus and was in the top four on two out of the four apparatus, this is significant as five girls are in the team and four actually perform on each piece of apparatus. However, the selectors decided to keep Claudia as reserve to the team. One of Claudia’s team of coaches was given full accreditation to the European Championships: Rory Weavers, who has attended the WC Pot. Squads with Claudia all year and has made a significant contribution to her success, travelled to Brussels with the British Team from 5th-13th May
